- Description
- Cornwall with Caroline Quentin, a new eight-part observational documentary series featuring Caroline Quentin, will see the popular presenter traveling the length and breadth of this beautiful and rugged county, over the course of a Cornish summer. Each episode will include heartwarming stories about life in some of the county’s most scenic towns and villages and feature some colourful characters who play a big part in the region’s communities. The locals on the remarkable peninsula include the traditional mix of fishermen, shopkeepers, landlords and lifeboat heroes but alongside them we will also be getting to know the local estate agents, chefs, food producers and fundraisers as they go about their daily businesses. Among them are characters including fisherwoman Lorna Bean, who devotes half of the year to sailing the seas on board her father’s fishing boat, the Lady Hamilton and catching sashimi for some of London’s popular restaurants; ex army officer Debs who gave it all up for a slower pace of life running a campsite on the picturesque Roseland Peninsula; and the villagers of picture postcard St Issey in North Cornwall, who are reigniting the community spirit after the closure of the village post office. As the busy summer season unfolds we’ll be getting to know these people, as well as the Cornish way of life and understanding what draws so many to this enchanting county. As Caroline drops in on some of these key characters we’ll gain entry to the great human stories that everyone can relate to, of community and friendship, hard graft and fresh endeavours, traditional livelihoods and ingenious money-making schemes. We’ll also gain an insight into why Caroline reserves such a special place in her heart for Cornwall, having holidayed in the county as a child and returned year after year ever since.
